Massachusetts Gateway Cities

MFF’s Gateway Cities program invests deeply in a small number of Gateway Cities with the goal of supporting on the ground projects that ultimately connect to shifting policies and resource allocation to ensure lasting  change around the issues of climate, health equity, transportation, housing and civic engagement.   MFF will support community driven projects that increase resident leadership and civic engagement, foster collaborative networks amongst diverse stakeholders, and build overall capacity to leverage resources, programs and policy changes that provide sustained benefit to local communities.

MFF awarded 3-year grants to 13 organizations in Holyoke and New Bedford in November 2025 for a total of $3,080,000.

MFF will be making a decision about a third city late in 2026 and issuing an RFP at the end of the year.  Please check this page again in December 2026.
