LETTER OF INQUIRY
New and returning requests for support must use MFF’s online application system to submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI).
Please review the Fund’s program areas of interest carefully to ensure a potential fit.
You will be notified of our decision, by email, typically within one week.
We regret that due to limited capacity at the Fund and a large volume of requests, the staff will not be able to respond to requests for further information or guidance.
Please make note of the deadline for submitting invited proposals and allow enough time for preparation and review.
DEADLINES
The Merck Family Fund will make 2012 funding decisions in April and November. LOIs will be reviewed on a rolling basis through the online application system. If invited, full proposals must be submitted through our online application system no later than February 1, 2012 @ 5 pm EST for an April decision and August 1, 2012 @ 5 pm EST for the November decision.
LIMITATIONS
The Merck Family Fund contributes to tax-exempt organizations in the United States. It does not support individuals, for-profit organizations, or candidates for political office. The Fund does not generally support: governmental organizations, academic research or books; endowments, debt reduction, annual fund-raising campaigns, capital construction, purchase of equipment, the acquisition of land, or film or video projects.
INVITED PROPOSAL
The Merck Family Fund considers full proposals by invitation only after a LOI has been approved.
Full proposals must be submitted using the online application system.
PROPOSALS MUST INCLUDE
• A one page PDF summary of the project.
• A statement of the need(s) or problem(s) to be addressed.
• A description of the project’s or organization’s goals and definition of success.

• The measurement tools and benchmarks to track progress for the duration of the grant and beyond.

• Project and organizational line item budget(s) including annual revenue and expenses.
• Most recent annual audit or financial statements.
• Current annual report.
• List of Board of Directors and Officers.
